Why do we want to belong?

Media cribbed for long that India didn't get through to Super 8. Now that wounds have been licked enough and they are back to their silly self; they would want us to be happy that our South Asian neighbor is in the semis and wish for its win in the final. Classic crap.

Continuing with the topic , unionism (wanting to belong to a large group) is one of the worst things happening to capitalism. In my first job, my senior branch manager, a Vice President of a trade union, went from cajoling to threatening to convince me to join the union. I refused and stuck to my stand - the bank gave me the job (at that point in time what I was happy having) as an individual and I had no business to join a group of cribbers and claim that I am being meted out immense injustice.

The topic of wanting to belong is too complex to comprehend.

Suffice to say that I stand for Mills' thoughts as espoused in "On Liberty" and of course Lawrentian ideology wittily expressed in the line - People's representatives? I am myself; I don't intend anyone to represent me.
